Please excuse our appearance as we develop the San Miguel Academy of Newburgh Website. San Miguel Academy of Newburgh (“SMA”) is an education corporation provisionally chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York to operate a Catholic middle school consisting of grades five through eight for underprivileged boys in Newburgh, New York. SMA opened its doors in September 2006 with one fifth grade class and plans to add a fifth grade every year over the course of the next four years, so that by the 2009-2010 school year, and in all subsequent years there will be four grades, five through eight, consisting of approximately 15 students each. SMA was organized to follow the NativityMiguel School model of schools
that exist elsewhere across the country. Its mission is to provide a quality
education to middle school age boys who have the potential to succeed
academically, but are in need of an alternative educational environment
in order to succeed. The school day is lengthened and supplemented by
a summer program. SMA provides an intense educational experience integrated
with a program focused on personal, moral and spiritual development. Its
mission is to encourage each student to realize his full potential as
a thoughtful, engaged and ethical member of society and to break the cycle
of poverty through education. San Miguel Academy of Newburgh admits students of any race, color, national
and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities
generally If you would like to learn more about other schools in the Nativity/Miguel
network of schools, please visit the following links: If you believe in our vision and would like to assist us, donations may be made payable to "Newburgh San Miguel Program" and sent to: Newburgh San Miguel Program Fundraising for SMA is conducted by Newburgh San Miguel Program (“NSMP”), a New York not-for-profit corporation having as its purpose the provision of financial and administrative support for SMA. NSMP is currently soliciting donations for SMA from residents of any state in which such solicitation is legal. Many states require charitable organizations to register before soliciting charitable contributions from their residents. In some jurisdictions we may be exempt from registrations; in others we may be required to register. NSMP and SMA are exempt from registration in the States of New York and Connecticut. Certain other states may require NSMP and/or SMA to register as charitable organizations under their respective laws before soliciting charitable contributions from their residents. We are in the process of examining the laws of those states to obtain exemption or register, as the case may be. Residents of other states should not construe or deem any content on our website or any other communication made by or on behalf of NSMP or SMA to be a solicitation of their donation or contribution to NSMP or SMA.
